Investigators of the Year Award
Bob Rahn and Kim Anklin made national headlines for their exemplary investigative work in the Jonathan Fleming wrongful conviction case in Brooklyn, NY. They uncovered the evidence that convinced the Conviction Integrity Unit to invite them into their investigation. Rahn and Anklin re-interviewed witnesses, visited the crime scene, and uncovered new witnesses which ultimately lead the Conviction Integrity Unit to find evidence in their own files which was there all along. This lead to Fleming’s charges being dismissed by Kings County District Attorney, Kenneth Thompson.
“…… As a result of their persistent efforts over the course of the last year, these talented private investigators helped exonerate a wrongfully convicted prisoner after 25 years of incarceration. They took on a case with a minimal retainer and invested hundreds of man hours to help free an innocent man. They took on the case knowing that they might never be paid for all their efforts, yet they used their investigative skills to prove and correct a major wrong.
